Project JE is affectionly called “Elsie” by us. A 1981 Suzuki LJ80, it has a very retro Beige, Brown and White colour theme. Elsie means  “LC” or “Lai Cha” which means milk tea in Cantonese. The name is derived from the colour of the body.

LJ80 production ran from 1977 to 1981, in which “Elsie” is one of the last ones to be made before the LJ80 was replaced totally by the SJ41X series of second generation “Jimny”. So “Elsie” is really a first generation Jimny. The label “Jimny” was only more popular from the third generation like the JB23, JB43 onwards.

LJ80s are getting very rare nowadays, most are also open top little buggies, and hard top “V variants” are even rarer. So “Elsie” is one fine lady that is hard to come by again.
